Schools Climate Assembly 2023

19th October 2023
King Edward VI Camp Hill Schools for Girls and Boys
Birmingham

The Schools Climate Assembly is returning for our third national event. We're bringing together 2,000 young people from across the UK for a day of workshops, talks and interactive sessions to empower young people in the face of the climate crisis.

Be The Change

As governments across the world fail to take the climate emergency seriously, it is critical that young people's voices are heard. Our theme, 'Be The Change' is about sparking positive action that starts with you and grows into something bigger. We have to believe in our power to make change happen in our schools and communities or to pressure government bodies and large organisations. When we make a decision to act positively for the planet, we are exercising power. People power can make change happen.

At SCA23 we will listen to climate activists, scientists, and TV broadcasters on their motivations for demanding change. In workshops, we will explore how to make change happen, how policy decisions affect global heating, who has power around us, and how climate change impacts migration.

New to SCA23, our Green Futures Area offers a chance to speak directly with climate organisations and businesses about careers in sustainability and ways to get involved with projects beyond the day itself. At the end of the day, as a group of 2,000 young people, we will be voting on an SCA campaign that will support you to make change happen in your communities and beyond.

It is time for young people’s ideas, thoughts and feelings to be taken seriously. All our futures are being threatened, but it is young people who will shape the future for the better.
